There will be a message as to which Function key to press on the screen when you first start your computer.
You can also refer to your computer manual, or the computer mftr. These machines also usually have a utility with which to create physical recovery discs in case the hard drive needs to be replaced or the factory restore image is somehow damaged. In reply to jonathon t's post on January 22, I would back up any data from outside of Windows if necessary and do a clean install with your XP Home disc then, using its Product Key.
You'll have to get drivers for the Asus' hardware, of course. I would take the time to test the hardware, at least the RAM and hard drive, before doing the clean install. Here's my deal.. Im' happy.. Saw that my Avira Ant-vir anti-virus pgrm was stating that it was out of date..

S:If the system restore windows appears strange,then reboot,press F8,choose Safe Mode with command promptor whatever and type the following again as shown above. This should solve it.
