Opening the lid normally starts a resume. However, occasionally it will start the resume and hang on a black screen before Windows has started. If I reboot the laptop it will again try to resume but this time will hang on a screen with a blinking cursor in the top left corner. Any attempts to resume hang at the same place and I have to reboot a further time and delete restoration data and cold-boot the laptop to get a working Windows.
I believe I've pinned down the conditions that trigger this - it seems to be related to the use of bluetooth devices - if I have my bluetooth mouse or phone connected when I suspend, it causes this problem. I understand that there were problems in Vista with an infinite loop during resume caused by hardware changes - however, I was under the impression that SP2 fixed this - SP2 has made the lockups on resume less random, but I'm still hitting this recurring problem.
